We will act professionally, and ensure that all officers conduct themselves with the highest level of moral and ethical standards.

Article II of the City of Burlington Ordinance establishes the Police Division. In addition, it states that the Chief of Police shall be the executive head. It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police to cause the public peace to be preserved and to see that all laws and ordinances relating thereto are properly enforced. The Police, under Title 40, Municipal Code, and the supervision of the Department of Public Safety perform all appropriate functions respecting enforcement of law and order, while providing the highest degree of public safety and quality of service. This dedication is built on the values of honor, professionalism, commitment, compassion, reliability, and accountability. Our Police Officers serve with integrity, to preserve life, to enforce law, and to work in a partnership with the community to enhance the quality of life in our City.
