BCPD Requesting Public’s Assistance in identifying Suspects in Video/Attempted Carjacking/Agg. Assault
On Sunday, September 5, 2021 at approximately 8:48pm, the City of Burlington Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of Wood St. for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victims who reported that their two-year old child sustained a graze wound to the thigh. The injury was minor and did not require medical attention. The victims reported three male subjects in dark clothing approached them and attempted to carjack them. During the altercation one of the subjects brandished a firearm and shot twice into the vehicle. The subjects then fled the area on foot. Contrary to initial reports, further investigation revealed that the victims appeared to be targeted, potentially narcotic related, and this was not a random event.
Furthermore, through surveillance video, it appears that both the victims and suspects entered the area of Wood Street in vehicles, and all parties fled the area in vehicles prior to officers locating the crime scene. Any person with information regarding this investigation is urged to call Detective Lieutenant Michael Ekelburg at 609-386-0262, Ext. 233, message us on Facebook, or leave a confidential tip on our website, www.burlingtonpolicenj.com.
