Straight to Treatment
It is a program created to help those that are caught in the powerful grip of addiction and substance abuse – but would like to break free – with the opportunity to be connected to a program to assist them with overcoming their addiction. You do NOT need insurance to participate.

Burlington County Recovery Center
The Recovery Center serves as a “one-stop” destination where individuals can be paired with a recovery peer, and obtain information about treatment programs, recovery support services and community resources. Wellness activities and classes, and recovery groups are also scheduled and held here.
Juneteenth Freedom Day
In celebration of Juneteenth the City of Burlington Police Department would like to highlight some significant historical facts. By 1790, Burlington County had the largest free Black population of any county in the state, according to the Library of Congress. “This can be attributed to its location in the Delaware Valley, known as the ‘cradle of emancipation,’ where slaves were freed on a large scale,” it said. “The sizeable presence and influence in the valley of Quakers, America's first organized group to speak out against the evils of bondage, enabled this region to be the pacesetter regarding black emancipation.” Once called Wheatley’s Burlington Pharmacy, this building was a Quaker-owned building used to harbor runaway slaves and the site of anti-slavery rallies. Located at 301 High St. in Burlington City, it is also the oldest pharmacy in continuous operation in the state. This historic pharmacy was built on the corner of High and East Union Streets in Burlington in 1731. The date is proudly incorporated into the side of the building along East Union [...]

***** ATTENTION SENIOR CITIZENS *****
PLEASE SEE MESSAGE BELOW FROM BURLINGTON COUNTY OFFICE ON AGING - FANS FOR SENIORS Temperatures are predicted to break 90 degrees this week. According to the National Institues of Health, senior citizens are particularly at risk of heat-related illnesses during the summer months. Too often, seniors without the ability to cool off suffer as the mercury rises. The Burlington County Office on Aging has 20-inch box fans available for senior citizens in need, providing a cost-effective way to reduce the risk of heat stress. If you find yourself in need of a fan, call the Office on Aging at: 609-265-5069. The staff there are eager to help you stay safe this summer. Anyone in need of cooling off, senior or otherwise, is welcome at any of the Burlington County Library System libraries, located throughout the county.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF SAMI’S LAW IN NEW JERSEY? #SamisLaw #WhatsMyName
Graduation season is a perfect time to learn about rideshare safety. In 2019, legislation requiring additional identification for drivers was signed into law by Governor Phil Murphy, spurred by the tragic loss of Samantha "Sami" Josephson. Sami's heartbreaking death shook us all. Mistakenly entering a car she thought was her rideshare, she tragically lost her life. Because of her parents’ advocacy and tireless efforts, we’re working to ensure safety for all passengers to prevent tragedies like Sami's from happening again. We stand with the Josephson family and all those affected by rideshare-related tragedies. By enhancing protections for rideshare users, we honor Sami’s memory and work to ensure that her legacy is honored. Learn more: whatsmyname.org #SamisLaw #WhatsMyName
