Straight to Treatment
It is a program created to help those that are caught in the powerful grip of addiction and substance abuse – but would like to break free – with the opportunity to be connected to a program to assist them with overcoming their addiction. You do NOT need insurance to participate.

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley (VOADV) is a local affiliate of national, non-profit organization, Volunteers of America, and provides essential services to our community’s most vulnerable individuals. Each year, we serve more than 13,000 individuals throughout the southern New Jersey and Philadelphia region and operates more than 40 high quality, outcome-driven assistance programs – from homelessness, reentry, veteran’s assistance and affordable housing services to specialized programs for individuals with addiction, traumatic brain injury and/or intellectual disabilities.

PRESS RELEASE On Saturday, April 2, 2022 at approximately 5:50PM, Burlington City Police Patrols observed a subject in the area of East Federal St. and Lawrence St. who had an active warrant for his arrest as a result of a domestic violence incident. Upon observing police, the subject immediately fled on foot. Officers gave him numerous commands to stop and that he was under arrest, however he continued to flee. After a brief foot pursuit officers were able to apprehend him, however he continued to physically resist and fight officers until being taken into custody. During this incident one officer sustained a wrist injury that required medical attention at a local hospital. The officer continues to be treated for the injury. Korey Williams, age 38 of Burlington City was subsequently charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Administration of Law and Hindering His Own Apprehension. Williams was lodged in the Burlington County Detention Facility. ** All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law**

As a reminder, please do not feed feral cats. Pursuant to Burlington City Ordinance 84-61: A. No person shall keep an animal on a property in a manner that causes one or more of the following: unsanitary conditions; infestation by insects or rodents; physical conditions that endanger the health or safety of humans. B. No person shall maintain or feed any animal, domesticated or wild, in a manner that causes one or more of the following: unsanitary conditions; infestation by insects or rodents; physical conditions that endanger the health or safety of humans. C. Community cat colonies shall be permitted, and caregivers shall be entitled to maintain them, in accordance with the terms and conditions of this article. Congratulations Dawn Berger-Thompson on your swearing in as the new Ward 3 Councilwoman. Councilwoman Berger-Thompson will be filling the position of Councilwoman Helen Hatala who served from 1982 until her passing in March of this year.
News Release – Welcome K9 Sully (Therapy and Emotional Support K9)
NEWS RELEASE April 7, 2022 BCPD K-9 Unit Opens Another Chapter in Community Policing Burlington, NJ - City of Burlington School District Superintendent Dr. John Russell and Chief John Fine proudly announce the arrival and implementation of K-9 Sully, a Therapy and Emotional Support Dog, who will be assigned to the School District to assist students and staff within the district. The effort began in coordination with Jacquelene O’Brien, Director of Child Study Team and Pupil Personnel Services, acknowledging a need to support several students in the school district while overcoming numerous obstacles to include the COVID-19 Pandemic and getting adapted back to in person learning. Director O’Brien said, “Through observing community policing, I have witnessed the positive impact police dogs have on the communities in which they serve. Knowing the effects animals have on promoting social interaction and the tremendous benefits of animal therapy, I just knew that K9 Sully would be the perfect fit in the Burlington City School District.
