Our Mission Statement
The mission of the City of Burlington Police Division is to ensure the best quality of life for our citizens through partnerships with the community, enforcement of the law, and the provision of a safe environment. We will act professionally, and ensure that all officers conduct themselves with the highest level of moral and ethical standards.

Straight to Treatment
It is a program created to help those that are caught in the powerful grip of addiction and substance abuse – but would like to break free – with the opportunity to be connected to a program to assist them with overcoming their addiction. You do NOT need insurance to participate.

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley (VOADV) is a local affiliate of national, non-profit organization, Volunteers of America, and provides essential services to our community’s most vulnerable individuals. Each year, we serve more than 13,000 individuals throughout the southern New Jersey and Philadelphia region and operates more than 40 high quality, outcome-driven assistance programs – from homelessness, reentry, veteran’s assistance and affordable housing services to specialized programs for individuals with addiction, traumatic brain injury and/or intellectual disabilities.
PRESS RELEASE – 9/28/23
On Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at approximately 7:31 AM, the City of Burlington Police Department responded to the 1100 block of East Pearl St. for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a vehicle and electric bicycle. Upon arrival, officers found that the rider of the electric bicycle sustained extensive injuries. He was transported by aeromedical to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden, NJ. The driver of the vehicle, a 28yo male from Howell, New Jersey remained on location. It is not believed that alcohol or narcotics played a part in the crash, however the incident remains under investigation. The electric bicycle rider was identified as Ivan Makaruha, age 35 of Burlington City, New Jersey. On September 23, 2023 Makaruha succumbed to his injures. This case is currently being investigated by the City of Burlington Police Department Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigation Division. Youth Police Academy 2023!
The City of Burlington Police Department and the Edgewater Park Township Police Department are now accepting applications for our joint Youth Police Academy 2023. Applications may be picked up at either department or by clicking the link below. Officers Attend Career Day!
The City of Burlington Police Department would like to thank the Rowan College at Burlington County and the Saint Pauls Schools for having our officers at their Career Days. On Thursday, officers attended the annual law enforcement career day hosted by Rowan College at Burlington County and on Friday, officers attended the Saint Pauls School Career Day. Our officers were able to meet many community members and answer questions about Law Enforcement careers.

Congratulations Chief Fine!!
Congratulations to our own Chief John Fine on being awarded with the Jewish Community Services Award at the 2022 Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast this morning. Chief Fine is being recognized for his outstanding leadership and dedication working to aid the community and promote trust, understanding and cooperation between law enforcement and all citizens, regardless of their race, religion or ethnic background. We are proud of the progress made under Chief Fine’s Administration and look forward to furthering our contacts and bettering relationships amongst our residents.
